[Sable; Merlin]

Okay. So I signed up for merlin_santa a few weeks ago and got my assigned person with a really open ended prompt of basically anything, any rating etc. What came from that? My very first NC 17 story in this fandom. I have this thing with NC 17 in Merlin, mainly because of the nature of the relationship between these two - I think it has to feel right. If I'm honest I never thought I was going to be able to write it for them, but it looks like I've proved myself wrong yet again. I really hope robot_rawr likes this... (and for those Merlin fans on my flist, have an early Christmas present!)

[Sacred Fire; Merlin]

Well, I here's my first contribution to merlinadvent and on time, to boot! Anyone on my flist who wants to broaden their Merlin fiction reading, head over there - there are some truly great stories being posted. :o) (Also, this is like my own personal celebration post because of the good news! Yay!)

This is in my usual style, or one that I love writing in - Day Twelve is my crack!fic day, or as near to crack as I can get it. I did do some reasearch for this story and I've finally managed to break my curse of only being able to write 2, 500 word Merlin stories, (yay!). If you're interested one website I did use was Christmas, Yule and the Winter Solstice, for the little bit of Druidic symbolism used in this, (and it really is little, blink and you'll miss it...), but I won't hunt you down and hit you put you in the stocks if you don't.

One day, possibly soon, I will break free of PG stories and fully immerse myself in the R/NC 17. But, hell, I'm enjoying this pre-slash so much! It's what slash was invented for, people. SEXUAL TENSION. Lol. PLUS: Touched will be coming back, very soon. I just need to write Day Twelve and then I shall work on that. Trust me, it's all planned. :o)

Anyway. Enough of all that. Story time!

[Seer's Sight; Merlin]

Well, this hit me after watching The Gates of Avalon again. Set from Morgana's POV, I wanted to get inside those dreams of hers and allow her to see the boys from that perspective. I hope you like, and please - let me know if it's any good.

[Beholden; Merlin]

Ah - well, here it is, my first story that ISN'T based on Muse in any way, shape, or form for... a year and a half? Roughly, anyway. There's only one show that has gripped me this tightly, and it has to be the wonder, (for me), that is Merlin. (Check it out here) This show is just screaming for slash to be written and I've been waiting eight weeks for a bunny to bite. One now has, and this is what comes from it. I hope that anyone who reads my Belldom will give this a try, although if you don't know anything about the show it may be a problem. Anyhow. Here we go...

This has the potential to have a sequel(s) to it, depending on whether people think it's worth it or not. I was a bit worried about getting the tone right, but in the end I slipped into it frighteningly easily. I hope you all like it, I've enjoyed writing it immensely. :o) Word count; 1, 500 on the nose.

[Guinevere; Merlin]

And here it is, my final submission, only a few hours late... *hopes no one notices* Ahem. Anyway. This piece was inspired by a quote prompt, that of;

"As for accomplishments, I just did what I had to do as things came along."

~ Eleanor Roosevelt

From this I had the idea of writing a Gwen POV story, focussing on how she reacts to how others percieve her. It's been really interesting doing this the other way around. Usually I'm writing about how other characters see her, which is infinitely simpler than trying to envision how Gwen sees herself. However, I'm really pleased with how this came out. And really, there was only one title I could give this story. I really hope you like my last submission. I've had so much fun writing these. ♥

Title: Guinevere
Author: ebonystar
POV: Gwen
Rating: U/G
Summary: Gwen realises that things are changing in the kingdom, through little things she does without thinking each day. This leads her to think, and ponder, exactly how she sees herself.

[Periphery; Merlin]

Roll up, roll up. Here's my fourth submission... only one more to go. I may actually do this and only be one day late. :o)

Now we come onto my Gwen/Arthur story. This one I had to choose (again, I'd prompted the song) because I absolutely adore this. In addition to that, when I listen to this I immediately think of Gwen and Arthur. And even more so after watching tonights episode. I'd written 90% of this before that aired and it was an utter joy to see some of what I had written here, translate onto the screen. Finally the writers seem to be understanding how this lovely relationship should play out in this reworked Camelot.

But that's besides the point. To begin with, here's the song that I used as my prompt;

And here are the lyrics;

And all that's left to say is I really hope you enjoy this. I think I may find myself writing more Gwen/Arthur very soon. It's a pairing I'm falling in love with more and more. ♥

[Through Dreams She Soars; Merlin]

Ah, here's the third entry. A song prompt this time, and, as such, I've uploaded the song for you to listen to whilst you read - it's been integral to the structure of this piece and I really do suggest you download it. I'd never heard it before until lastling sent it to me, and I fell in love with it straight away. I had to put it forward as a prompt, and then had to actually claim it, too. I don't want to say too much more on it, because it's all in the lyrics/style of music, so here's the download link;

and a link to the lyrics;

This is Gwen-centric with a side dash of Gwen/Arthur (only alluded to, never openly addressed).

I hope you enjoy. ♥

[The Ties That Bind; Merlin]

The second story, following closely on the heels of the first. Whenever I pick prompts in these Gwen Battles, I always, invariably, choose at least one to do with Merlin and Gwen. Their relationship is one that I love to look into, to explore. This is why the prompt;

Gwen/Merlin; chains

intrigued me so much. This isn't a Gwen/Merlin story, or it is, in as much as it is their friendship I've explored. The inclusion of the word chains made me think both literally and metaphorically. I hope that this fulfils the prompt in the way I hope it will, and all who read, enjoy it. ♥

[Breathless; Merlin]

Ah, the first of what I hope will be five stories, centred on Gwen, for thefuturequeen's Gwen Battle Summer '09. Again, all from prompts that I chose to write about. This one is another interesting one for me. Another het pairing, but the prompt pricked at me and I just had to take it on. I've also uploaded a song that really fits it, for me. I hope who reads this likes it (I won't say enjoy, because it's about lost love, or a love that cannot be) and it's been good to get back to Merlin, in any shape or form. ♥

The prompt this sprung from was;

Gwen/Lancelot; Letting go

And this is what came from it.

Title: Breathless

Pairing: Gwen/Lancelot

[By Virtue Fall; Merlin]

And the longest of the three. I don't know why, but if I'm writing a few stories, I'll always keep the longest till last. *sigh*

BUT - I still made the deadline. Yay! So on we go.

The last prompt I nabbed was this one;

"There are many Beths in the world, shy and quiet, sitting in corners till needed, and living for others so cheerfully that no one sees the sacrifices till the little cricket on the hearth stops chirping, and the sweet, sunshiny presence vanishes, leaving silence and shadow behind."

Louisa May Alcott (Little Women)

I've always loved Little Women and from the first time I read it, I always loved Beth. There's something about both her character, her name, and her fate, that always gets to me so much, so seeing that prompt...I had to choose it. From that, comes this, a little angsty, but as it's Gwen, don't fret too much. This is about her, Merlin, Morgana and Arthur as a whole. I really hope you read, I know that by default Gwen gets less attention than the boys, but I'm really pleased with how this one turned out. I've tried a different style without meaning to, so let me know if you like.

The title is, yet again, from a Shakespeare quote;

Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall.

From Measure by Measure.

I really hope you enjoy, and please let me know.

Word count; 5, 563 (making this the second longest one off that I have written for Merlin so far...)
